Accessibility statement
Prepared October 11, 2026
Our goal
We want everyone to be able to use Helpyr Academy, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, magnification, or other assistive technology. We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
Where we are
We believe Helpyr Academy partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA: most of it meets the standard, and the parts that don’t yet are listed below. In October 2026 we reviewed the member area and fixed what we found, including form labels, keyboard access and visible focus, a skip-to-content link, screen-reader announcements for Alister’s answers, uploads and saved changes, and text contrast.
That review was done by our own team, with automated checks and a reading of the code. It has not yet been independently audited, and we have not tested every screen reader and browser combination.
Known limitations
- Captions on lesson videos: some lessons may not have captions yet, and captions that were generated automatically can contain mistakes. We are checking every lesson’s captions now and will add or correct them. Every lesson page also has a full text transcript.
- Lesson videos play in our video providers’ players (Mux, and for some lessons YouTube or Loom). Their controls come from those providers.
- The Milestones map is a visual map. Each milestone on it can be reached with a keyboard, has a name for screen readers, and opens its details as text, but the map itself is easiest to take in by sight.
- Alister’s answers are written by AI and can include tables and long passages, which can take longer to move through with a screen reader.
- Some decorative motion, such as the floating Alister, plays by default. You can pause Alister with the button beside him, and all animation stops when your device is set to reduce motion.
- On the search boxes and Alister’s message box, the sign that shows where you are typing is a soft glow that can be hard to see.
- The tools Helpyr staff use to run the Academy have had less accessibility testing than the member pages.
